Marcello Staglieno

Marcello Staglieno (Genoa, December 17th, 1938 – Milan, May 16th, 2013) was an Italian journalist, writer and politician.

In 1974 he was one of the founders, with Indro Montanelli, of the newspaper Il Giornale, remaining first as head of the cultural page and then as a cultural correspondent, until 1992, subsequently collaborating with numerous national newspapers and magazines.

As a politician, he was elected in 1992 to the Senate of the Italian Republic, and from the 9th September 1992 to the 7th April 1994 he was a member of the Bureau of the Bicameral Commission for Institutional Reforms. Re-elected in 1994, he was vice president of the Senate until 1996.

He is the author of numerous publications and articles published on Gazzetta del Lunedi (1964-1973); il Resto del Carlino (1973-1974); Il Giornale ruled by Indro Montanelli (1974-1992) and others newspaper and magazines.
